Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
Full-time Academic Probation for OSAP
Full-time Academic Probation is a status assigned to students receiving OSAP who have not met the required academic progress. OSAP requires students to demonstrate satisfactory academic performance in order to continue receiving financial aid. If a student consistently fails to meet this requirement, they may be placed on academic probation.
What Leads to Full-time Academic Probation?
You may be placed on Full-time Academic Probation if:
Failure to Meet Course Load Requirements: As a full-time student receiving OSAP, you are required to successfully complete at least 60% of your full-time course load (40% for students with disabilities) in each study period. If you drop or fail to meet this percentage, you may be placed on probation.
Academic Withdrawal: Withdrawing from your program or reducing your course load without informing OSAP may also result in probation status.
Poor Academic Performance: If your grades are consistently low and you’re failing a significant portion of your courses, this could trigger a probationary period as OSAP reviews your academic progress.
