MICROBLADING – ADDING VALUABLE SKILLS TO YOUR REPERTOIRE

No one can escape the trend that’s always been with us – the trend for the right eyebrows. Over the decades the actual style may have changed, but the yearning has always been the same – getting them right.

In the 1950s, the world went mad for very dark, arched eyebrows just like Marilyn Monroe. Through the 60s, makeup enthusiasts went for a thinner, straight line, popularized by Sophia Loren. With the advent of hippies and flower power, the 1970s saw an even thinner brow, then in the 80s we all went crazy for thick, bushy brows after we watched Brooke Shields in Blue Lagoon.

As the brow cycle continued, the 1990s dictated that we should all tidy up and shape our still thick brows with a thin taper towards the end. But let’s not forget, a young Kate Moss also made ultra-thin brows famous towards the end of the 90s!

This trend stayed for the early 2000’s as we all went a bit grunge but then we dropped our tweezers as the decade went on, and brows became thicker again. With the break of the 2010s, brows became even more important. Grooming was big, and thick, perfect brows like those of the Kardashians were here to stay. Cara Delevingne made huge brows big news and we began brushing them upwards and even accessorizing them.

Now, the Instagram brigade are ALL about the brow, with rainbows, jewels and dip dyes. Throughout history, one thing remains constant – being a dedicated follower of fashion doesn’t just mean what we wear, our brows are just as crucial.

Must know

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup, that is applied using practices similar to tattooing. But don’t let that scare you, it’s a much more delicate procedure, giving a much more delicate result than actual tattooing.

A microblading tool uses a very fine scalpel-like blade that applies ink below the skin, but not as deep as a tattoo. Beforehand, you’ll apply a numbing cream after discussing the color and shape with your client.

The color will last around 12-18 months, but it can be topped up every six months. It gives the effects of ‘hairs’ by using gentle brush strokes rather than a filled in block of color, ensuring totally natural results.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD BROWS

Our brows define our face shape, and without them, we have no expression or look of emotion. So it’s important that our brows look good. As someone in the beauty industry, knowing all the latest techniques is essential for your career or your business.

One of the most important techniques in the world of brows is microblading. Learning how to microblade is a must to keep up with today’s demand for brows that are on point.

What Is Microshading?

Microshading, which is often recommended for those who may be more prone to oily skin, is similar to microblading, but instead of the hair-like strokes, your Artist will use a different hand tool combined with a specialized machine with acupuncture-like needles to emulate a softer and fuller as well as denser look. Many individuals who have oiler skin find that Microshading allows the look to last longer between touchups than Microblading.
