At Elite College of Business & Healthcare has designed this PSW certificate course to provide workers who want to work in residential aged care facilities, community care, disability care, community-based organizations and hospitals.
This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or
residential setting (residential aged care facilities) who follow an individualized plan for provision of person-centered care to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.
Workers have to learn range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centered support.

PROGRAM

Our PSW Certificate Course combines both theory and practical training, with the bulk of the learning and assessment in the workplace where learners will be practicing newly acquired knowledge through delivery of skills in areas relating to personal care and assisting people.

Order of

CONDUCT

  1. Modules 1 and 2 must be taught in sequential order
  2. Then from model 3 – 12 may be taught in any order.
  3. Module 13, Clinical Placement (Community), may be attended
    concurrently with theory Modules 4 to 12, but only after theory modules 1
    and 2 have been completed.
  4. Module 13, Clinical Placement (Community), may be attended
    concurrently with theory Modules 4 to 12, but only after theory modules 1
    and 2 have been completed.

WHAT IS THE COURSE

ABOUT

During this course you will reflect the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualized plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs.

WHAT WILL I

LEARN?

  1. Meet personal client support needs, and those living with special needs.
  2. Communicate effectively and support clients.
  3. Tailor care for individual client needs.
  4. Administer medications in the most responsible manner, complying with
    industrial requirements.
  5. Navigate and work within the health and community care sector.

HOW WILL I

LEARN?

  1. Classroom-based Learning, where the student attends Elite College with a
    Teacher/Trainer present.
  2. Practical training – practicum must take place in Clinical Placement at
    Community & Facility environment with the supervision of an instructor.

What are the Admission

REQUIREMENTS?

Minimum requirements;

  • Grade 12 (OSSD) or Equivalent or Mature student with a score of 11 or
    more on the Wonderlic SLE (or other MTCU approved test NOTE: CAT and
    CAST can no longer be used).
  • Technical Literacy Exam (passing score of 18).
  • Medical Certificate
  • Canada wide Police Clearance of Criminal Record including Vulnerable
    Sector, within 30 business days of starting school
