Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
Who is Eligible for OSAP?
Eligibility for OSAP depends on several factors:
- Citizenship Status: You must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person.
- Residency: You must have lived in Ontario for at least 12 consecutive months (not counting time spent as a full-time student).
- Financial Need: OSAP uses a formula to assess your financial need, considering your (and your family’s) income, dependents, and other financial resources.
- Educational Program: You must be enrolled in a full-time or part-time program at an approved post-secondary institution.
- Academic Progress: To remain eligible, you need to pass a certain number of courses each academic year. Dropping below this threshold can result in ineligibility for future OSAP funding.
